If you are short of time but still want to visit two very powerful Jyotirling temples in one day, then this journey is just perfect for you. In one single day, you can take the darshan of Shri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga in Ujjain and Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga near Indore. Both places are full of divine energy, and every Shiva devotee should try to visit them once in life.

This trip is suitable for families, elderly, solo travelers or pilgrims who are coming to Madhya Pradesh with tight schedule. In this blog, we’ll tell you the simple travel plan, how to manage time, and best way to take peaceful darshan of both Jyotirling temples in one day.

Morning – Start With Mahakaleshwar Darshan (Ujjain)

Your journey should begin early in the morning from Ujjain. Try to reach Mahakaleshwar Temple by 5:00 AM or earlier if you wish to attend the Bhasma Aarti. This aarti is very special and happens only in this temple. For attending Bhasma Aarti, online booking is needed from official website.

If not attending Bhasma Aarti, still try to complete Mahakal darshan by 8:00 AM. Take your time, do jalabhishek if allowed, and sit for a while near Nandi for mental peace.

After darshan, take light breakfast near temple area and then start journey to Omkareshwar.

Travel to Omkareshwar

  • Distance: Approx. 140 km
  • Travel Time: 3.5 to 4 hours by taxi or private vehicle
  • Route: Ujjain – Indore – Omkareshwar

You can hire a cab from Ujjain or Indore. Road condition is decent and journey is smooth. Better to carry water, fruits or snacks for road.

Afternoon – Omkareshwar Jyotirling Darshan

By 12:30 or 1:00 PM, you should reach Omkareshwar, a beautiful temple located on an island shaped like the symbol ॐ (Om). Take a boat if needed, or walk from the bridge to reach the temple. Omkareshwar is peaceful and surrounded by river Narmada.

You can do pooja, jalabhishek, and take blessings of Lord Shiva here. The temple is not too crowded in afternoon, so darshan is easy and quick.

After darshan, if time allows, you can also visit Mamleshwar Temple, which is nearby and also considered very sacred.

Evening – Return or Rest

After completing darshan, you can:

  • Return back to Indore (approx. 80 km)
  • Or go back to Ujjain (approx. 140 km)
  • Or stay overnight in Omkareshwar for rest and Narmada aarti
