Saavan – The Month of Lord Shiva’s Blessings
Saavan (or Shravan) is a very special month in Hindu religion. This month is full of devotion, fasting, and prayer to Lord Shiva. It usually comes in July-August, during the monsoon season.
In Saavan, people go to temples, do Rudrabhishek, keep fasts (vrat), and chant “Om Namah Shivaya”. This month is full of peace, rain, and spiritual energy. Mondays of Saavan are called “Saawan Somvar”, and they are very powerful.
🕉️ Why Saavan is Celebrated?
It is said in old story (puranas), when gods and demons did Samudra Manthan, poison (halahal) came out. Lord Shiva drank the poison to save the world. That happened in the month of Saavan.
So people pray to Shiva during this month to thank him and get his blessings. Rain also make this month very peaceful and pure.
